Hudson Cane Corsos: Who We Are

Located in the Macedonia region of Columbia County, Calvin & Melissa Hudson and their 5 children raise Cane Corso/Italian Mastiff dogs. But they are more than just dogs. This breed has a history of being the guardian of the farm or manor. Their innate characteristic of being protective of their owner allows them to be the perfect dog for all sizes of farms. This breed is also an asset for hunters. They know when not to bark, when to attack, and when to retrieve. Hog, deer, or waterfowl hunters would find an amazing partner in their sport, as this breed is designed to go through water and rough terrain in order to serve their master.

Having perhaps the highest intelligence of all breeds, this modern-day ancestor of the Roman dog of War is capable of taking down a horse or bull if necessary. (Ask us about how we know they can still do this.)

Always able to tell a friend from an enemy, they are the perfect family dog for any household. These dogs can even sense when you are within a quarter mile of your house –> they remember the sound of your vehicle’s engine and hear your wheels slowing and turning into your driveway. They can distinguish between your way of driving and that of a stranger. These dogs will stand in front of your child and protect them while they are outside, playing in the backyard.

Our Cane Corsos know good people from bad people, as most animals do. But our dogs will intervene to protect you, your family, and your yard if they feel the need to, without hesitation. We have placed several puppies with law enforcement agencies as service dogs in training, over the years, for this very reason.

With that in mind, they are as gentle as a butterfly when around infants and small children. Our adult dogs, both male and female, are terrific parents. Our sires have a history of being proud of their litters, always wanting to check in on them as they grow!
