Hudson Cane Corsos

About our Family

My name is Melissa A. Hudson, and I live in Southwestern Arkansas with my husband of 24 years, Calvin. We have five children: Connor, Logan, Beau, Allison, and Elvin. All members of our family jump in and lend a hand when it comes to raising Cane Corsos!

Here is the story about how we started with this breed:

Our third son, Beau, was born in November, on Veteran’s Day, 2009. Mable, our first Cane Corso (dame) was born on Christmas of that year. Cain (sire) was born on January 15, 2010. In March of 2010, we Hudsons were living in the Log Cabin adjacent to the William Frazier House called “Frog Level.”

Frogs and dogs rhyme, and we find that kind of charming. (In addition to our dogs, we also, still do, have frogs—Statler and Waldorf are treefrogs that live inside the house, above the kitchen sink. They sleep on our pots and pans, bathe in pie tins and bowls, and laugh at how lucky they are compared to outside frogs. Their stories and photos may also appear on this site sometime soon! Calvin brought Mable and Cain home on the same day. Having two puppies in the house, as well as a newborn, was challenging at first. But after Cain snuggled up on my feet one night while I was doing dishes, he found his way into my heart.

We now live in southern Columbia County, at our home in the Macedonia Community. Our Cane Corsos are eye-catching, friendly, and protective. Our yard is fully-fenced and when our gates are closed, the dogs patrol our front yard. We are trying to socialize them as best we can with regular delivery people, and one person even stops and feeds our dogs treats when they deliver or pick up packages. We often have people stop and ask us when our next litter of puppies will be available. It is a blessing to know our dogs and puppies are welcome in our community!

Our children help with puppy chores, such as bathing, cleaning their sleeping spaces, feeding them supplements (when needed), as well as socializing them from the start. By nature, this is a protective, guardian breed. Good habits begin early with our puppies. We insist on puppies staying with their mother–and father–for a full 6 weeks. This gives them time to develop and understand the basic ‘rules of the pack.’

On this site, you will find news and pictures of our dogs, our puppies, and upcoming litters. Ensuring proper care regimens, nutrition, and exercise throughout a dog’s life can extend the time that owners and dogs are together.
